Dermal Filler In Maple Valley

WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?

Dermal fillers can be used to fill a line or wrinkle and restore volume to an area that has lost volume over time.  Natural fillers are made of modified Hyaluronic acid (HA), a molecule that is in every cell of your body.  HA binds to water to naturally plump and hydrates the tissue.  HA fillers are the safest fillers on the market, as they are all-natural, and can easily be dissolved in case of any complication.

MD  Cote carries the full line of Juvederm fillers by Allergan.  Juvederm was one of the original fillers on the market and has now been expanded to an entire family of fillers, each targeting a specific area of the face.  All the Juvederm fillers are HA fillers, and all have lidocaine added for your comfort, as noted by the XC in each name.

As a Diamond account (Top 500) with Allergan, Dr Cote and her injection staff use filler to lift and contour the face, rather than just fill lines.  This is the most advanced use of filler, and assures you have a completely natural beauty.  This way of using filler is also called full face correction, or sometimes referred to as a “liquid lift”.

Filler Before and After

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT JUVEDERM FILLERS AND WHAT AREAS DOES EACH TARGET?

Voluma is FDA approved for use in the cheek and chin.  Voluma XC is the most popular filler in the world.  It can last up to 2 years.

When Voluma XC is used to lift and contour the cheek, you will also see improvement in the under-eye area, the jawline, and the nasolabial folds or smile lines.  This gives you a rested and youthful appearance.

Voluma XC is used in the chin to add projection and length, improving your profile and jawline.  This can add balance to the face and lips.  It can be added along the jawline for even more definition.

Voluma XC is also commonly used in the temple to lift the brow and improve the overall appearance of the under-eye.

UVEDERM ULTRA XC AND ULTRA PLUS XC

Juvederm Ultra XC was one of the first HA fillers in the US to receive FDA approval.  It was originally FDA approved to soften the smile lines around the mouth, or nasolabial folds.  It also has also received FDA approval for use in the lips, and the area around the mouth.  Juvederm Ultra XC is the most popular lip filler in the world.  It is flexible, soft, and ideal for adding subtle volume to the lips and perioral area.  For a more dramatic pout; or deeper lines or folds; Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is slightly thicker.  Juvederm Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC can last up to 1 year, depending on the area it is placed in.

VOLBELLA XC

Volbella XC was created specifically for use in vertical lip lines, sometimes called smokers lines, or bar code lines.  It is FDA approved to fill and soften these lines, without giving an unnaturally full upper lip or duck lip.  It can also be used to give definition to the lip border, and a soft hydrated look to the lip, without adding volume.  It is extremely flexible and durable, and lasts up to 1 year.

Vollure XC is FDA approved for use in the lines of the mid and lower face, most commonly the smile lines or nasolabial folds.  It is very flexible and offers a longer duration than Juvederm Ultra or Ultra Plus.  It can last up to 18 months in these lines.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING A JUVEDERM TREATMENT?

Your treatment at MD Cote always starts with a free consultation.  We want to make sure we completely understand your goals for your treatment.  We will explain your options your each of your concerns, and help you choose the filler that is right for you.  Your treatment then may be done that day or another day.

After your treatment you will have immediate after pictures taken and we will compare these to your before pictures.  These pictures are only for you and your provider and are not used anywhere else.

The length of your appointment primarily depends on the type of analgesia you choose.  It can be as short as 20 minutes or as long as an hour.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF FILLERS?

Because HA occurs naturally in the body, reactions to any Juvederm filler are rare.  As a Diamond partner with Allergan Dr. Cote has the training, experience, and knowledge to treat any complication and ensure you love your results while being as safe as possible.

As with any injection, the most common side effects are redness, slight swelling at the site, or possible bruising.  Dr. Cote and her injection staff use Accuvein, a device to help avoid bruising, by finding veins near the injection site, so they can be avoided.  The use of Accuvein in Dr. Cote’s practice has decreased bruising by 80%.

It’s important to not rub or squeeze your filler for the first 24 hours.  This can cause the filler to migrate into an unwanted area of the face or create more swelling.  You should also avoid heavy exercise, and eating excess salt or sugar for the first 24 hours, as these activities can increase swelling.  After the first 24 hrs the filler “settles” in and there is less risk of migration or bruising.
