WHAT DOES THE HALO LASER TREAT?
HALO is a creative and sophisticated laser device that can treat multiple conditions at one time because it is two lasers in one. Some of the conditions that can be improved through one or more HALO treatments include:
- Sun damage
- Hyperpigmentation
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Enlarged pores
- Scars
- Uneven skin tone
- Melasma
You don’t have to see these conditions on your skin to be a good candidate for HALO. One of the forms of laser technology included in this device reaches beneath the surface to correct tissue damage before it makes its way to the surface.
WHAT TYPE OF LASER IS THE HALO?
The HALO device is the first Hybrid Fractional Laser device to be developed. Being a hybrid device, this means that HALO utilizes ablative and non-ablative wavelengths of light in a single treatment zone. The combination of ablative and non-ablative energies creates a synergistic effect that maximizes the treatment outcome while minimizing downtime.
The ablative 2940 nm Er:YAG laser wavelength is tunable to help your provider customize your treatment process. The non-ablative 1470 nm wavelength is also tunable. Together, these wavelengths permeate to the optimal depths of tissue to stimulate cellular turnover and regenerative remodeling of the epidermis and papillary dermis.
WHAT IS THE HALO PROCEDURE LIKE?
After applying a numbing cream to your skin and leaving it for several minutes, your provider will cleanse the treatment area and give you protective shields to place over your eyes. To stimulate tissue rejuvenation, your provider will run the small applicator tip across individual sections of your skin, ensuring that the entire treatment area is addressed. During your treatment, you may feel a prickly or warm sensation. Your provider may use a device to blow cool air onto your skin to mitigate these effects. The entire treatment may take 30 to 45 minutes.
WILL I NEED ANY TYPE OF ANESTHETIC?
Laser treatments can be moderately uncomfortable. To reduce the sensations of heat and tingling or zapping, we apply a topical anesthetic shortly before your treatment. A water-based gel is also applied to your skin before the laser energy is delivered. Finally, you may also be instructed to take an oral anesthetic or anti-inflammatory before your appointment. If you have questions about how your HALO treatment might feel, please do not hesitate to contact us!
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED FROM HALO TO SEE RESULTS?
One of the great things about HALO laser treatments is that they are customizable thanks to the tunability of the laser wavelengths. Being adjustable, this treatment platform can help you reach your aesthetic goals within your preferred timeframe. You don’t necessarily have to choose between reviving your appearance and maintaining your normal pace of life. Together, you and your provider can select the ideal intensity of treatment. Higher intensity will achieve more profound results in fewer treatments but may require a few days of relative downtime to allow redness and swelling to subside. A low-intensity treatment may not incur downtime but will also be limited in the degree of improvement each session can achieve. The advantage here is that your treatment process is entirely up to you!
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS FROM HALO LAST?
Your HALO results may last for months or for years. This depends on several factors. The strength of your treatment is one, the number of treatments you have is another. Additionally, your aging process is unique and will influence the longevity of your results. If you apply sunscreen daily and you take very good care of your skin, you can expect to enjoy long-lasting results from the recommended number of HALO treatments. Finally, to stay ahead of your ongoing aging process, you might schedule maintenance HALO treatments every couple of years.
